My memories of painting start at a young age. My mother was a painter, so it was always a part of my life. I remember my parents dragging my sister and myself to art exhibits all over the Los Angeles area, particularly a Monet Exhibition. After graduating with a BA in fine art from Occidental College I taught art in the Los Angeles Unified School system.
I love the practice of painting. Moving and placing paint on a surface gives me a joyous freedom of interpretation. The subjects I'm most drawn to are still life, people and landscapes, with an occasional abstract. Being a Member of Main Street Arts, the last ten years has been a great experience. It is so much fun to see what direction all our art and the gallery will take next. Besides Main Street Arts, you can also see my artwork at I've Been Framed and Citrus Salon, both in Martinez. Also I have been teaching still life classes at Studio 55 also in Martinez. I am a new member of BASA, Bay Area Studio Artists, meeting weekly to paint and support each other. Lastly, I would like to thank the community of Martinez for supporting Main Street Arts. Even through the pandemic Martinez was there for us.
