Personal Statement

I have enjoyed drawing and painting the human figure ever since I was a child.  I often incorporate images of animals interacting with human subjects.  Animals together with people help me make a statement.  I generally intend to tell a story about the subject, person, or animal relationship. Most of my paintings are infused with symbolism and feeling.  I often add images of animals that may seem out of place to present ideas.   I endeavor to move the viewer toward intuition.

Making a painting is like living life.  Most things I paint explain in some ways who I am.  I find that certain themes and colors continually creep into my work.  I prefer to paint people and animals that look like they are in slight motion.

I paint a subject with sensitivity, always working emotion in the faces and painting the essence of who they are and the bonds between people and animals.

I believe the wildest of beasts will someday be tame and as gentle as the most docile of animals.  Violence in nature will not exist, because survival will not be part of our consciousness.
