Proud to be a tree hugging, dirt worshiping Wildlife Painter but not restricted to animal painter just because she does that all the time. Often still including landscape water and trees, all part of the Natural World. Light on the Natural Environment encourages a never-ending quest to observe nature more intimately. Painting successfully en plein air and teaching watercolor painting as color relationships, for all ages since 1999.
Learning to paint with oils initially in high school some self-imposed monotony resulted requiring a temporary change and challenge. Transparent watercolor with its unique atmospheric impact became the primary medium for over 30 years. Brought up to see color optically cultivated a fascination with the transparent colors of light. Light is always the issue it defines and embellishes everything. Oil paint has its own dynamic for representing qualities of light, it’s opaque and tactile character can also be transparent, where the two qualities can interact gracefully. Returning to oil turned out to be far more difficult than expected, its reputation is to be easier.
Traditional Art Elements and the relationships between abstraction and realism, engages imaginations. Not revealing every detail employs a viewer’s own interpretations provoking an illusive and more personal quality of realism.
