Born in 1975, Lana Fly grew up in Ontario, Canada. Passionate and creative as a young adult, Lana received a BA in Visual Arts in 1997 from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. She went on to a successful career in software engineering which she abandoned in 2019 to follow her heart. Lana now resides with her three children and husband in Northern, CA.
Artist Statement
"I love creating large scale paintings because it enables me access to a full range of movement and provides a space to hold my intensity. I access my raw unfiltered emotions and thoughts to drive my dance on the canvas.
Free from my logical mind I explode through color and movement - unshackled, aggressive, spontaneous, vibrant, intense, playful, curious and uninhibited.
Painting allows me to tap into my primal self and it leaves me feeling exhilarated and euphoric. I focus on the process of creating and the paintings are a result of that experience. My goal is to experience and create a full range of notes while painting such that the painting will sing when my dance is done."
